Academy of Art U. Fuels Bay Area’s Innovation Economy, President Tells Economic Forum

New Report Reveals Academy of Art University’s Benefits to Bay Area & the Nation

A newly released report finds that the Academy “provides significant benefits to the San Francisco region” and “is a leader in developing talent to fuel the creative industries locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.” While Americans debate federal student loans, the report says the Academy’s education model provides “a strong return on investment for the taxpayer.”

2010 Hillsborough Concours Features Student Drawings & Cars From the Academy Collection

Renderings of classic cars by Academy students were displayed along with the dazzling array of historical autos at the 2010 Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance, one of America’s most prestigious competitions. Eight Industrial Design students were invited by Tom Matano, executive director of the School of Industrial Design, to present their work in a special display.

International Dyson Award Selects Academy Grad Kim Hoffman’s “Seakettle” Project

Recent Academy of Art University alum Kim Hoffman’s Seakettle project, a finalist for the James Dyson Award, has been honored with second place in this prestigious international design competition. Howard Brodie – Artist, Board Member, Instructor, Friend – Leaves a Legacy at the Academy of Art University

Howard Brodie, famed military and courtroom artist, former member of the Board of Directors and instructor at the Academy of Art University, died Sept. 12 at his home in Monterey County, Calif. He was 94. A combat artist who was awarded the Bronze Star, Brodie was a much-admired teacher of figure drawing at the Academy.
