More than 500 volunteers and community partners, including the Academy, will be recognized March 6th for the 10th anniversary of San Francisco’s Community Clean Team. In the past decade, thousands of volunteers — including Academy faculty and students — have worked to plant trees, eradicate graffiti and generally “clean and green” the city.

What better way to kick off a roadshow than a parking lot party? On Feb. 4, Emily Pilloton’s Design Revolution Roadshow was celebrated in the lot of the Academy of Art University building at 601 Brannan St. in San Francisco. Along with the fun, guests were exposed to a powerful message of humanitarian-centered design.

On Jan. 23, a group of designers, artists, students, civic leaders and residents from the Bayview community in San Francisco gathered to celebrate the environment, education and public arts. The occasion, a preview of the Urban Forest Project, allowed students and Bayview kids to show their art created for the project and for the occasion.

On Saturday, Jan. 23, AIGA San Francisco hosts a reception to preview the city’s Urban Forest Project, an effort jointly sponsored by AIGA SF, the design firm Worldstudio and the Academy of Art University. The Urban Forest Project will bring a forest of thought-provoking banners to city streets to promote messages of sustainability.
