Seven current BFA and MFA students from the Academy of Art University’s School of Advertising were winners in the 2012 Greater San Francisco Ad Club Student ADDY competition. James Mills, MFA candidate, was selected for his “SunPower: Celebrate the Sun” campaign (top image), which employs stencil designs and an online competition to encourage interest in solar power. See more work from his Silver-winning campaign here.
Mills’ ambitious multimedia campaign titled “BuyLocal.org” also received a Silver award. See the campaign here.
Hansley Kasih (MFA candidate), Breanna Dobbe (MFA), Carolina Gallegos (MFA) and Kritika Prasad-Kommuri were Silver winners for their series of imaginative ads that promote the organizing benefits of OXO products. See the ads here.
Kavita Saney (MFA) won Gold for her glow-in-the-dark print ads for the World Wildlife Fund. With the tagline “Switch off the lights to see what you save,” the ads feature endangered wildlife to raise awareness of global warming. “Real Adventure: Lonely Planet” by BFA candidate Oscar Wickman was also awarded a Silver student ADDY. The campaign uses dramatic nature art to illustrate adventure travel associated with Lonely Planet. More images here.
